Yesterday we posted the first article in this series and continue with this post on how business owners themselves are often the cause of a poorly performing SEO campaign. Below you will find more reasons why this can happen.
Not Making any Changes to the Website
The website content is always likely to need changing to be better optimised for the chosen keywords. The way the business owner can stop this bit of the process is by either refusing or slowly implementing the recommended content changes. Once your SEO specialist has made content change recommendations, the changes should be made as soon as possible. The longer you take to make the change the slower your search engine ranking improvement will be and the longer it will take for you to see a return on your investment.
Poor Communication
One of the most frustrating things in our business is to have a client’s SEO campaign slowed down or stopped altogether due to a lack of response from the client. Business owners should understand that if they are not responding to emails and telephone calls from their SEO specialists they will likely be at a standstill on their SEO campaign.
At the opposite end of the scale we also see some clients who are almost over eager to communicate! WSI IMS encourages clients to call or email them whenever they feel the need, however please remember that there are only certain hours in the day and the more hours we spend on the telephone the less time we have to get your SEO campaign work done.
Micro Management
This is really down to your own management style, however if you have hired a specialist SEO company to optimise your website for the most appropriate keywords and phrases you should really give them the time and space to put the strategy in place. If you are the type of person who feels the need to approve every little change and approve once again after the change has been done then you are likely to be more of a hindrance than a help to your SEO firm. Remember that they are the experts and do SEO day in, day out.
By micro managing what they can and cannot do, at best you will cause delays and at worst you can be responsible for the campaign losing all impetus.
If you do not trust your SEO professional to do the work properly, you should not have hired them in the first place! You must do your due diligence before hiring any internet marketing professional and once you are happy, trust them to know what they are doing and to get you the results that you want.
