If you are a Business owner or the Sales & Marketing Director of a large Corporate Business you may well have already taken the plunge, or at least be considering creating a Facebook Fan page for your business.  A branded Facebook Fan page has many benefits and can be used in a number of different ways to help you promote your business:

  • Drive traffic to your website from your Facebook fan page
  • Promote contests and competitions, requiring that all entrants ‘like’ your page first
  • Create and improve awareness of your brand
  • Engage with your customers and prospects

Facebook recently announced its 600 millionth member milestone had been reached – 30 million of those members are here in the UK, that means that almost half the UK population has a Facebook account!  Facebook also receives the second highest volume of traffic (Google is number 1) with an average 135 million unique visitors each month.  Just imagine the effect it could have on your business if you were able to attract just a fraction of that Facebook traffic as customers!

So, how can you get some of that traffic to find your Facebook Fan Page – which you can then use to link them back to your website?  We detail below the top 5 tips to encourage people to your Facebook fan page – more tips in our next post:

a)      Add the Facebook icon as a link to your fan page on your website, your blog and also your email signature. If you have a WordPress blog, like this one, use a plug-in called social slider which follows you ‘down the page’ (Just look to your right and you will see it)

b)      After you have created your Company Facebook Profile you should then Create a ‘Fan page’ on Facebook, brand it and link back to your website from it.

c)      No-one likes being the first to arrive at a party – similarly nobody likes being the first to ‘like’ your fan page.  You need to ask some friends, colleagues and family to visit your new fan page and like it to get the ball rolling.

d)     Run promotions or competitions on your Facebook fan page – just look at some of the Facebook fan pages of major brands like Kellogg’s, Heinz and Cadbury and you will see some great creative content.

e)    Make your Facebook Fan page ‘interesting’ and fun so that your visitors will not only want to return to it but will also be encouraged to tell their friends about it.
